Jean Grant-Sutton, Program Coordinator

Jean Grant-SuttonJean Grant-Sutton loves yoga. She began reaping the benefits of this ancient art and science as a teenager in the 80s using it to help manage the stress of balancing school and work. The deep rewards she experienced stimulated her journey to India where she spent time at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry as well as many other places in India, Nepal, Thailand and Bali exploring the Eastern Philosophies of Yoga and Buddhism.

Today, she is the Program Director of P.O.S.T.-Wellness by Design. As former Founder and Director of BodyWorks Integrative Yoga and Stress Management Center, she registered with Yoga Alliance and certified as an Integrative Yoga 500-hour Advanced Professional Yoga Therapist. She has been practicing and studying Yoga since 1980 and teaching since 1994. Jean’s teaching encompasses her extensive experience as a bodyworker which brings forward her deep understanding and love of form, alignment, and anatomy. She combines that knowledge with her continued studies in yoga with Kate Pelly (Iyengar), Ian Rawlinson (Desikachar) and Joseph LePage (Integrative). She also has been deeply influenced over the years in classes with and teachings of Erich Schiffman, Scott Blossom, Richard Miller, Anodea Judith, and Judith Lasater. Jean’s presentation style transmits the great joy, understanding and well-being that yoga provides for our body, mind and spirit.

She created the 200-hour Affiliate Integrative Yoga Teacher Program at BodyWorks-Integrative Yoga and Stress Management Center in 2005 and the program continues to be a premier program in the Northern California Area. She offers mixed level and beginning classes weekly and does private yoga therapy by appointment.
